20×30 Print Size in Pixels
A 20 × 30 inch print needs 6000 × 9000 pixels at 300 PPI. It measures 50.8 × 76.2 cm and has a 2:3 aspect ratio.
20 × 30 in at 300 PPI: 6000 × 9000 px (54 MP)
At 240 PPI: 4800 × 7200 px · at 150 PPI: 3000 × 4500 px
20×30 in pixels at each density
Multiply each inch dimension by the density. The results are exact because both sides are whole inches.
| Density | Portrait | Landscape | Megapixels |
|---|---|---|---|
| 150 PPI | 3000 × 4500 | 4500 × 3000 | 13.5 |
| 200 PPI | 4000 × 6000 | 6000 × 4000 | 24 |
| 240 PPI | 4800 × 7200 | 7200 × 4800 | 34.6 |
| 300 PPI | 6000 × 9000 | 9000 × 6000 | 54 |

Nearest-pixel rounding can fall slightly below the target on one axis. Use Round up when the target is a strict minimum.
This is the canvas size. Changing a file’s PPI metadata alone does not create these pixels.

Will my photo fit 20×30 without cropping?
20 × 30 inches is a large 2:3 print that matches a full 3:2 camera frame.

How many megapixels does a 20×30 print need?
At 300 PPI the print needs 54 megapixels after any crop; at 240 PPI, 34.6 MP; at 150 PPI, 13.5 MP. These are arithmetic targets, not a promise of print quality: focus, noise and viewing distance matter too.
Changing an image’s PPI setting without resampling only changes its intended print size. Read what changing DPI actually does before upsizing a file.
